Transfer Foil to Polymer Clay

Transfer foil to polymer clay

Easily transfer foil designs to polymer clay.

We all love a little bling on our polymer clay, right? I know I do. But for years I kept seeing tutorials using a solid sheet of foil that would become a blob on top of the clay. You could crackle it…nice…however,

I really wanted to figure out a way to add decorative foil to polymer clay. I wanted the ability to design a pattern and transfer that exact pattern to polymer clay. The design could be large or small. For example a small pattern for earrings or a larger pattern for a pendant.

After several experiments I discovered several ways to transfer foil patterns to polymer clay.

The first technique I’m sharing is using premo clay, heat transfer foil, acetone and a black toner printed pattern using regular printer paper. I want to be clear that the printed image is from a powder based toner laser printer, not ink jet.

Watch the video to see the process in action.

SPOILER ALERT!! IT’S SUPER EASY!!

I’d love to know if you try this technique. If you’re interested in the pattern I used, I’ve uploaded it to my etsy shop.
